Natalie Merchant New York reviews
A bit of a snoozefest
April 24 at the Peace Center in Greenville, SC. Her vocals are still amazing, and the tour musicians and backup vocalist were excellent. She is an artist, so her favorites aren't necessarily her fans' favorites. Also, her new record has a couple of catchy songs, but nothing like Tigerlilly or Blind Man's Zoo (10,000 Maniacs). She did 24 or 25 songs, and only 4 or 5 were the recognizable ones. She could literally bring down the house if she ever chose to do a greatest hits tour, but that is not her thing. I've seen her twice now, and it has been the same both times ... a little boring. Hard to sit through 20 yawners only to hear 4 or 5 hits. However, I love her voice, and the old hits that she did sing were great.
